Rafa Nadal, número dois mundial, garantiu já madrugada dentro um lugar nas meias-finais de Roland Garros após derrotar o menino prodígio Jannik Sinner.

Num encontro que já começou bastante tarde (devido à maratona do duelo entre Dominic Thiem e Diego Schwartzman), o espanhol conseguiu conter o talento do italiano, vencendo com os parciais de 7-6(4), 6-4 e 6-1, após cerca de 2h50 minutos de jogo.

Este encontro veio demonstrar o que todos já suspeitavam: o talento de Sinner. O transalpino, de 19 anos, chegou a servir para fechar o primeiro parcial quando vencia por 6-5, no entanto, Nadal não baixou os braços, deu a volta ao marcador e, a partir daí, nunca mais perdeu o controlo do encontro.

O espanhol avança, assim, para as meias-finais em Paris pela 13.ª vez na carreira. O seu próximo adversário é Schwartzman.
